Rec Board update

By Nancy Feehan

Starfish 2nd Hand Store is open Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Friday, May 14 and 28 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Come in for next year’s winterwear as coats and shoes are free right now. We sure could use some volunteer help as we are busting at the seams.

Don’t forget, this weekend is the Spring Clean Fling on Friday and Saturday so you can set items out on the street or alley for pick up. Town residents may take advantage of the free dumping at the landfill with a town water bill from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

You can also bring items to the Starfish Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. to be recycled. One community yard sale signed up at 204 North Belle Fourche Avenue.

T-ball and baseball practice will be during May with games in June on the new turf.

Would parents of seniors like to have a place to hold a reception after graduation on May 21? If you are interested in a group reception at the MTC gymnasium, call Char at 307-680-5738 or Nancy at 307-660-7428.

We had our first community garden last spring. We have 30 raised beds with 16 reserved and three of the four childrens’ boxes are reserved.

The raised bed includes the box with dirt, the water needed for the season, and great camaraderie with fellow gardeners and learning along the way. The great produce is a by-product of your work.

The town has moved the water and made hose stands to help with the watering process. Please reserve your raised bed at town hall.

We have discontinued Open Gym on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings until fall.

Men’s Basketball and the exercise room are open Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Ladies Volleyball and the exercise room are open Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

We would love to get more businesses at the MTC; one classroom could hold more than one business. Contact Town Hall or the rec board for more information.

The MTC is a great low cost friendly alternative for family or professional events, from birthday parties to company training and more; call Town Hall for fee schedule, insurance and deposit requirements and a key. Nonprofit organizations interested in seeking a fee variance to rent space in the MTC must request said variance from the town council; the town hall staff can help.
