Graveside services for Marguerite Kummerfeld were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Moorcroft Cemetery with Pastor Donavon Voigt officiating. Kathryn Marguerite Kummerfeld, age 99, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Close to Home Hospice of natural causes.
Marguerite (Duvall) Kummerfeld was born in on her family’s ranch near Rozet, WY on August 11, 1918 to Elsie (Weaver) and James Duvall. She attended school in Rozet and graduated from Rozet High School in 1934. She married John Joe Kummerfeld in 1937.
The couple made their home in Moorcroft, WY where Marguerite was involved in numerous organizations, including West Texas Trail Museum, Pythian Sisters, Moorcroft Elementary School Board and an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Moorcroft. Marguerite also enjoyed painting, spending time with her children and grandchildren, researching her family history and volunteer work. Marguerite was a school teacher and also a bookkeeper for Kummerfeld and Sons.
She is survived by her sons, John Gary Kummerfeld of Rozet, WY, Jimmy Hans (L.B.) Kummerfeld of Lovell, WY, and Jerry Greg (Jody) Kummerfeld of Thermopolis, WY; daughter, Carol Lee (Edwin) Sisson of Moorcroft, WY; brothers, Kenneth Duvall of Gillette, WY and Verlin (Judy) Duvall of Rozet, WY; along with 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Marguerite is preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, James and Elsie; brothers, Carol, Merle, and James; and sisters, Nadine and Norma Lee.
The family request that memorials be made in Marguerite’s name to the West Texas Trail Museum in Moorcroft or First Presbyterian Church of Moorcroft.
